Stomach Bloating Remedies

Natural Stomach Bloating Remedies

That uncomfortable feeling of a protruding belly can be caused by many dietary factors, but thankfully bloating is usually not a serious condition.  If bloating accompanies other symptoms such as pain, fever, blood in the stool, irregular periods, swollen lymph nodes or unexplained weight loss, a doctor’s visit is in order.  You may be surprised to know that there is natural stomach bloating remedies that can resolve your issues without resorting to over the counter medications.

Contrary to what you might think, bloating is not caused by excess fluid in the stomach like water. Fluids don’t ‘collect’ in your stomach. If you are retaining fluid, the fluid buildup is generally around the stomach, extremities, and joints.

Barring fluid retention due to other issues, generally bloating is a problem with digestion. Excessive gas is the main cause of bloating.  Excessive gas can come from:

Inadequate protein digestion.  Strong stomach acid is needed to break down the tangled web of amino acids in meat protein.  Many people suffer from low stomach acid. If you cannot digest protein adequately, it goes through the digestive tract without the absorption of minerals like iron.

Inability to digest starches and sugar.  Your body has to make the enzymes needed to break down starches and sugar. Most people do not eat enough whole fruits and vegetables which contain natural enzymes that help digest the food. If you cannot digest your starches, bloating is a result.

Imbalance of gut bacteria. Our stomach is home to both good and bad bacteria.  If you have an imbalance of bad bacteria vs. good bacteria.  Gas and bloating can be the result.

gut bacteria 1

I’m sure you’ve heard of probiotics and how wonderful they are for gut health.  Probiotics are a great digestive remedy, but if you are experiencing gas and bloating then jumping on the probiotic train may NOT be the best thing for you right away. Adding more bacteria to a stomach already overabundant in bacteria may exacerbate the condition rather than fix it.

My favorite gas and bloating remedies.

1.Gaia Herbs Gas and Bloating and Heather’s Tummy Tamers:  Peppermint, ginger, and fennel help the stomach release trapped gas and relax the muscle wall of the intestines.  Activated charcoal helps absorb the excess gas in the gut.  Take these supplements in between meals and away from other supplements or medication. Charcoal binds to other nutrients and you don’t want to not absorb essential nutrients.

2. Renew Life’s “Digest More and Enzymedica’s “Digest” Digestive enzymes are needed to digest food thoroughly for maximum absorption of nutrients. Inflammation due to poor diet, excessive sugar, starch intake, and medicines can deplete enzyme secretions.  If food is slow to be digested or remains semi-digested, gas and bloating are the result.  These products assist the body with enzymes so food can be digested and move along the digestive tract.  Take them with meals.

3. Something so simple yet not heeded due to our hectic lifestyle is slow, conscious and mindful eating. When we chew our food thoroughly, digestive secretions start forming. Saliva is the first enzyme that starts the digestion process.  Being mindful of taking each bite, chewing thoroughly and swallowing is so very important to avoid gas and bloating. When we eat hurriedly, half chew our food and swallow without thinking, we are taking in excess gas and not allowing our body to produce the necessary enzymes.  Then, not chewing thoroughly results in large pieces of unchewed food into our stomach.  Our stomach has to work extra hard to break down the food resulting in gas and bloating.

4. Lastly, grazing all day. Many people are literally eating all day. Some people always have a snack handy to munch on.  The digestive system needs to rebalance bacteria by not having food in the stomach all day. When there is food in the stomach that is being digested all day long, the stomach cannot work as efficiently leading to gas and bloating.

These are simple remedies that can make a profound difference in your gas and bloating issues.

In conclusion, bloating is not caused by excess water in the stomach but mainly from gas. Gas is caused by inadequate digestion of proteins, starches, and fats.  It can also be caused by lack of eating hygiene, such as eating too fast and not chewing food thoroughly.  Snacking all day doesn’t allow the stomach to naturally cleanse itself when food is not in the stomach. Low stomach acid is usually the culprit when not able to digest food properly.

If you’d like to know whether or not low stomach acid is a cause of your gas and bloating, try these simple tests here.

How to Kill Intestinal Parasites

How To Kill Intestinal Parasites

Parasites are living organisms that live on or in a host organism and utilize the host organism’s nutrients and in so doing, hurt the host organism. Infections with human intestinal parasites represent one of the most common health problems of our days, and they are usually accompanied by symptoms such as anemia, constipation, bloating, digestive disorders and skin abnormalities. Many people completely refuse to take the issue of intestinal parasites seriously, not wanting to believe they suffer from such an uncomfortable and embarrassing health condition.  In this article, I will share with you how to kill intestinal parasites naturally.

However, there is little to be ashamed of, since all humans are exposed to parasitic organisms through various means like air, food, and drinks we consume or come in contact with. Besides the use of powerful anti-parasite drugs that are usually prescribed, there are natural ways to prevent or deal with parasitic infections, particularly since we are talking about long-term interventions. There are specific herbs that Mother Nature has in store for us that create a completely unfriendly environment for intestinal parasites. Below are some herbal oil extracts and how they can be used for getting rid of intestinal parasites.

Oil of oregano oregano_facebook

Nature provides us with many things and remedies are one of them. Oregano has been used for centuries as an antifungal, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agent for a range of health issues. Oil of oregano is a potent and highly effective natural remedy for treating bacterial infections on the skin or in wounds but is also a perfect means of curing intestinal parasites. The essential oil of oregano is extracted through steam distillation of fresh oregano leaves. Its dominant components are Carvacrol, Thymol, Cymene, Caryophyllene, Pinene, Bisabolene, Linalool, Borneol, Geranyl Acetate, Linalyl Acetate and Terpinene. Chinese doctors have used oregano for centuries to treat cases of vomiting, diarrhea and skin problems. It is a digestive aid which helps to loosen and remove mucus, also helps to help get rid of intestinal parasites. Oregano is known to have powerful antioxidant activity. Opt only for oregano oil made from Origanum vulgare and Thymus capitatus, a variety that grows in Spain.

How to take:   Dilute the oil (mix a drop with a drop of a carrier oil such as coconut oil), and place it under your tongue. Hold it there for a few minutes, and then rinse it out. Repeat this at least four times a day.

Oil of wormwood wormwood

Wormwood oil has as a component “thujone” which makes it a bit toxic but thujone makes wormwood an ideal deodorant because of its distinct smell and it’s properties that kill those bacteria contributing to body odor. Wormwood is used to eliminate intestinal parasites like worms, especially pinworms and roundworms. Pinworms are the most common worm infection whose eggs spread directly from person to person. Roundworms, or nematodes, are parasites that also infect human intestines.

Pinworms can cause extreme itching in the anal region while roundworms can cause a cough, shortness of breath, abdominal pain, nausea and diarrhea, blood in the stool, weight loss, and presence of the worm in vomit or stool. Parasites are never a good thing, but thankfully they’re treatable with natural remedies like wormwood oil. Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium), black walnut and clove are commonly used together to kill off a parasitic infection. It’s said that when these three are taken at the same time, together they’re able to break the parasite’s life cycle.

How to take –  Wormwood is best to take in capsule form when killing parasites.  Some use teas and tinctures, but a standardized capsule is the way to go.  Combine it with black walnut and you have a potent parasitic cleanse. Try this organic variety here.

Essential oil of cloves  cloves

Clove oil is extracted from the clove bud through distillation and it contains eugenol, caryophyllene, and tannins, which are powerful antimicrobial agents. Clove oil is also rich in calcium, iron, sodium, phosphorous, potassium, and Vitamins A and C. Eugenol is reported to be anti-bacterial, antiseptic, anti-viral, anti-spasmodic, a broad-spectrum antimicrobial, etc. Eugenol is the volatile oil responsible for the aroma of cloves and it starts to dissipate as soon as they are grounded. These components travel through the bloodstream, killing microscopic parasites and intestinal parasitic larvae and eggs.  Cloves are also effective at killing Staphylococcus and Streptococcus bacteria. Clove oil is very strong and should always be used with a carrier oil and only used for short periods of time, up to 2 weeks when taken internally.

How to take – Use 2-3 drops of clove oil in water with fresh squeezed lemon and drink this 3x daily.

In conclusion, when parasitic infections are suspected it’s time to do a parasitic cleanse. Knowing that there are very effective essential oils that are effective in killing parasites is gratifying.   Taking the highest quality herbs and essential oils is paramount especially when taking essential oils internally.  I highly recommend these essential oils when taking them internally.  To purchase the oils mentioned above, carries Plant Therapy, a reputable, quality brand of essential oils.  Wild Harvest is a great brand to purchase wormwood capsules.

Killing Bad Bacteria Gut Information

When there is an overgrowth of bad bacteria in the gut, it opens the door to all sorts of health challenges ranging from simple digestive issues like too much gas and bloating to autoimmune diseases.  Having an overgrowth of bad bacteria also influences our cravings for food.  Did you ever crave sugary foods? Thank your gut bacteria for that.  Bad bacteria feeds off of sugar and when they need more ‘food’ they will influence your brain to make the decision to eat more sugar.  Thought you had no willpower? Well think again, it’s your microbes demanding to be fed!  Bad bacteria also influences whether your body will store food as fat rather than energy. Killing bad bacteria gut Information is important to know and apply in your life so you can finally be free of your microbes determining the state of your health, cravings, and weight.Overgrowth of Bad Bacteria

How to Kill Bad Bacteria In The Gut

  1. The first thing you need to do to kill off bad bacteria is to stop eating sugar.  Bad gut bacteria feed off of sugar so you need to starve them and kill them off. If you need help getting sugar out of your life, I highly recommend you to do a sugar detox.
  2. Take simple carbs out of your diet.  Simple carbs like bread, rice, and pasta turn to sugar and feed the bad bacteria just like sweet foods do.
  3. Increase antioxidants that boost your immune system like OPC’s , vitamin C, vitamin E, carotenoids, and bioflavonoids.  You can purchase these in supplement forms but it’s always best to eat the organic, whole food variety of these antioxidants.  But to jumpstart a program of killing bacteria, it can be a good idea to use supplements to quicken the process. These antioxidants boost the immune system which then attacks bad bacteria.
  4. Oregano oil – 4 drops of oregano oil a day can help kill off bad bacteria. Read more about other ways to kill off bad bacteria with oregano oil here.

Other Ways To Reduce Bad Bacteria

Killing off bad bacteria is a great first step in reducing the overgrowth of bacteria in your gut, but there are other ways to reduce bad bacteria.  If you do all of the above but continue a lifestyle that fosters the growth of bad bacteria, you won’t make much headway.  Here are other things to avoid to reduce bad bacteria.

  • Chemicals and preservatives in food.  Read labels and stay away from ingredients you don’t understand.
  • Antibiotics. We overuse antibiotics and it increases the ratio of bad bacteria. Do not use antibiotics for simple colds and flu.  It’s not necessary and will do more damage in the long term.  Antibiotics kill off all bacteria, good and bad. If you have to take antibiotics make sure you are taking a high quality probiotic. Check out my shop page for some excellent ones.
  • Chlorine can be in our tap water and it destroys gut bacteria.  Use filtered, high-quality water for home use and purchase high-quality spring water to avoid chlorine.
  • Environmental toxins.  Things like household cleaners, pesticides, lawn chemicals etc will wreak havoc on our good bacteria allowing bad bacteria to thrive.
  • Excessive stress.  To balance stress, you need to incorporate stress-reducing activities into your daily life.  Do crossword puzzles, sleep for 7-8 hours every night, meditate, exercise.  For more information about how to start a meditation practice sign up here:

Beginner/intermediate Meditation

  • Avoid hand sanitizers. Hand sanitizers kill beneficial bacteria as well as bad bacteria. Plain soap and water will do the trick.
  • Avoid heavy metals.  This means staying away from canned tuna which can have high levels of mercury.
  • Do not eat traditional meat.  Meat traditionally raised is filled with chemicals and antibiotics.  This is passed on to you when you consume it.  Always go for organic and grass fed beef.
  • Stay away from NSAIDs and OTC pain relievers.  They kill off good bacteria. If you need pain relief try a bowl of tart cherries or drink Golden Milk which is made with turmeric a potent pain reliever. Here is a recipe for Golden Milk, drink it every day.
  • Trans fats. Trans fats are very damaging to the body and increase inflammation which allows bad bacteria to survive. Stick with healthy fats like olive oil, avocado oil, grass fed butter, coconut oil etc.

In conclusion, killing bad bacteria is a way to heal your gut and start the healing process.  But killing bad bacteria is not the end of the process.  Avoiding those foods and environmental toxins that encourage the growth of bad bacteria is also necessary to do. If you’d like to start an effective sugar detox to jump start the process, I recommend Diane Sanfilippo’s 21 Day Detox.

How Does a Diffuser Work?

How Does a Diffuser Work – Quality Matters!

So you purchase top quality essential oils to help with natural healing for a range of conditions and then you buy a cheap diffuser for aromatherapy.  Some diffusers release essential oils into a small area around the diffuser and you’ll never get the benefits unless you sit within two feet of it.  Some diffusers lack the ability to actually diffuse the oils. Others are so poorly made that they break down and you end up paying more money in the end. So, how does a diffuser work and why does it matter?

How does a diffuser work

What Is The Purpose Of A Diffuser?

Essential oil diffusers are specifically designed to break the essential oil into small particles and disperse it into the air where you breathe in the particles for a therapeutic affect.  Using the highest quality essential oils is critical as you are breathing the particles into your lungs.  Using the highest quality diffusers is critical as well. To learn more about quality essential oils, read here.

For therapeutic value the best diffusers are:

Ultrasonic diffusers creates a fine mist with the addition of water into the air.

Nebulizing diffusers – does not use water. The diffuser breaks up the oils into small molecules and is released into the air.  This diffuser has the most therapeutic value.

Any other type of diffuser may be enjoyable to use, but does not offer any real therapeutic value, stick with the ultrasonic and the nebulizing.

Review of Diffuser World Aroma-Ace and Aroma Sens Diffusers

About Diffuser World –  Earl Sevy is the inventor of Diffuser World cold air diffusers.  Since 1999, he has been perfecting the essential oil diffuser.  Since then, the Aroma-Ace™ Cold Air Atomizing Diffuser took the industry by storm. More of these atomizing diffusers have been sold than all of the other products combined in years prior to its release.  The Aroma-Ace™ continues to be the number one seller in the world, and it’s easy to see why.  Their diffusers are built with sound construction and quality materials. If one breaks down, they are quick to repair or replace.  This is a company that focuses on one thing and that is essential oil diffusers.  Making an investment in your health with a Diffuser World diffuser is a smart choice.

  1. The Aroma-Ace essential Oil Atomizing Diffuser  aroma ace1

Is a powerful, compact, and easy to use essential oil diffuser system for aromatherapy. It has a unique design and one of the best diffusers for essential oils.  It works by using a pump to atomize the essential oil into a fine mist. The resulting particles are tiny enough that they will remain suspended in the air for a several hours after the diffuser is turned off. This makes them useful for “cleaning” the air of germs and for respiratory support. Since these particles remain in the air for hours, they remain intact and can also combat viruses, bacteria, mold, pests and odors.  Unlike most diffusers which require you to place drops of oil into the appliance, with Aroma-Ace you can connect a bottle of oil directly to the unit. This makes changing oils easy and mess free, so there is no need to use droppers or accidentally get oil on your skin while refilling, and is economical since you are using every last drop in the bottle.

Other Advantages of Aroma-Ace over other diffusers

  • There are no glass parts to break (or clean).
  • As a nebulizer, it uses pure essential oils. This is more therapeutic as the oils are not diluted in water.
  • No heat is applied to the oils. Cold diffusion maintains the oil’s natural state, whereas heat can alter an oil’s properties due to uneven evaporation of its component molecules.
  • Covers a large area—1000-1500 sq. ft means this one unit will cover most of your house.
  • The three controls on this device are for output, rest time, and run time. The latter two controls allow you to diffuse oils intermittently. Since this diffuses undiluted oils it is important to only run your diffuser for 10-15 minutes a couple times a day.
  • Diffuser World manufactures these in the USA and offers a 5 year warranty on this product, which is amazing for a small appliance such as this.
  • A built in air filter removes dust
  • The Aroma-Ace has built in on/off timers and output volume control for easy adjustment

If you are looking for a nebulizer, this unit has several features that will make it your top choice diffuser. It is sturdy, requires minimal maintenance, has fantastic coverage and a built in timer.  I can’t say enough good things about this diffuser.  Again, if you are looking for a therapeutic diffuser, this can’t be beat.

      2)  AromaSens Vaporizing Diffuseraromasens

The most efficient form of diffusion! Unlike essential oil burners and heaters, AromaSens diffuser uses ultrasonic technology which converts the oil and water under high frequency vibration into a fine cool mist. The mist is then diffused throughout the entire room creating a natural spa-like atmosphere. No heat, no chemicals or pump needed. The AromaSens Ultrasonic Aromatherapy water diffuser is easy to use, safe and silent. The AromaSens comes complete with a calming light that can be turned off at any time. It offers high or low output, continuous run time, or run shut off after one or two hours. A digital sensor automatically powers off the unit when water level drops too low.

Distinguishing features of AromaSens over other brands

  • Safer, silent, effective and economical
  • It is not too heavy in weight and low power consumption
  • Essential oils can be added directly to the unit
  • 3 timer settings and 2 fan settings
  • Once filled, unit can operate for up to 3.5 hours
  • Digitally programmed to stop automatically when the minimum water level is reached
  • Can be used as a nebulizer, humidifier or air purifier
  • Best quality for less price

In conclusion, purchasing a high quality diffuser that will offer you the best therapeutic uses for your essential oils is an investment in your health.  If you truly want to get the amazing health benefits of your expensive and high quality oils, then purchasing a high quality diffuser is essential. Acure Day Cream Review – Probiotic Skin Care And Gut Health.

Acure Day Cream Review

We know about probiotics and how beneficial they are for our gut in helping with with stomach conditions ranging from constipation to more serious diseases such as Crohns and Colitis.  But much less is known about how probiotics might be beneficial applied to your skin.  New research shows that there may be signals coming from our gut bacteria that are sent to your skin. These signals tell our skin how to behave and how to react.  If you suffer from dryness, irritations, rashes or skin diseases, skin probiotics (healthy bacteria) may have a new role in treating these conditions.  If your microbiome is unbalanced, you may not only have gut issues you may have skin conditions that may respond to probiotic skincare.

Most of our body is bathed in bacteria.  It sounds so gross, but it’s not.  In fact some experts believe that who we are is what our bacteria is.  We are driven by our bacteria. Bacteria cells outnumber human cells by 10 to 1. That would make us 1/10th human and 9/10th’s bacteria!  Our skin is no different, bacteria and fungi live on our skin and they stay on even if we wash.

Thеrе are a lоt оf ѕkіn саrе products out thеrе claiming to be the best thing for уоur skin. But now with advances in science, probiotic skincare may be the best thing for your skin.

Thеrе are a few probiotic ѕkіn care products on the market today capitalizing on this new research. Some contain quаlіtу іngrеdіеntѕ, but many do not.

Some points to consider when purchasing probiotic skin products:

* Gооd ѕkіn саrе рrоduсtѕ always have a hіgh percent of effective nаturаl іngrеdіеntѕ.

* Thеѕе іngrеdіеntѕ соmе frоm рurеlу nаturаl ѕоurсеѕ, thеу аrе nоt chemical-based.

*  Good ѕkіn саrе рrоduсtѕ will nоt hаvе substances lіkе mineral оіlѕ, wаx, parabens, preservatives, colors, emulsifiers аnd аlсоhоl. These ingredients will counteract any good effects of your skincare.

* Thеу wоn’t be frаgrаnt. Many products smell wonderful, hоwеvеr, frаgrаnсеѕ аrе сhеmісаl ingredients аnd can cause more problems in the long run.

4 Steps To Heal Leaky Gut Fast – Stop Suffering!

leaky-gutLeaky gut is a condition where the tight junctures of your intestinal wall become larger due to inflammation, poor diet and medications.  These tight junctures keep unwanted food and particles out of your bloodstream and they only allow nutrients to pass through.  Once these tight junctures are no longer ‘tight’, food particles slip through these openings causing inflammation throughout the body.   Leaky gut is an emerging medical phenomenon, yet most doctors are not familiar with this common digestive ailment that is afflicting more and more people today.   I will outline 4 steps to heal leaky gut fast so you can strengthen your digestion, heal your stomach and feel better!

1.Identify Since there is no diagnostic test to pinpoint leaky gut, you need to know what the signs and symptoms are so you can start the healing journey. Localized symptoms: bloating, candida, diarrhea, gas and constipation.  General symptoms: chronic fatigue, food and seasonal allergies, arthritis and other joint pain, rashes and nutritional deficiencies. Brain symptoms: mood swings, brain fog, anxiety, depression. Severe symptoms: Chron’s disease, lupus, IBD, autoimmune diseases.

If you have any of these symptoms for a long period of time, it’s worth looking at Leaky Gut Syndrome.

 2. Calm and Remove  Calming inflammation is the first order of business.  Inflammation is what causes the tight junctures to become larger and more open allowing substances to pass through that should never have passed directly into your bloodstream.  Drink green juice powdersthey contain chlorophyll which is a very healing nutrient for the small intestine. Slippery Elm coats and protects the lining of the stomach.  Aloe Vera Juice can do for your gut what it does for your skin;  soothe and heal. Cabbage juice is calming for the gut walls.  Remove foods that trigger inflammation in the gut. Sugar, processed foods, gluten and artificial sweeteners. This is important to do or else you will continue to suffer from inflammation that triggers leaky gut.

3. Heal  After triggers are removed and healing nutrients and foods are added in, it’s time to start the healing process.  Drink a cup of bone broth every day. The benefits of bone broth cannot be overstated enough.  According to Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride, healing and sealing your gut is important. Bone broth is easily digestible, heals the lining of the stomach and contains valuable nutrients.  l-glutamine is critical for healing Leaky Gut. Glutamine has been shown in studies to strengthen the mucosal lining of the stomach.  It’s the mucous lining that breaks down due to inflammation and contributes to Leaky Gut. The mucosal lining is where over 70% of our immune system is found and when that mucous lining is destroyed by inflammation, leaky gut is the result as well as the symptoms and diseases listed above. Omega 3 Fatty Acids have been shown to repair the lining of the intestinal walls as well as tighten the junctures of the lining so particles do not pass through.lemon-ginger-bone-broth-2

4. Strengthen  Once you have healed the junctures of the gut and improved inflammation, now it’s time to strengthen the lining of the gut and help it grow more friendly bacteria.  These beneficial bacteria strengthen our immune system and improve absorption of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients.  Two of the most beneficial strains of friendly bacteria is lactobacilli and bifidobacteria.   Adding these probiotics is important to reinoculate the friendly bacteria that is so important for healthy digestion and a strong gut lining. Add in fermented foods like Kefir, sauerkraut, Kombucha and plain yogurt.  These foods contain prebiotic and probiotics that reinoculate friendly bacteria and deter the growth of bad bacteria.  Take a probiotic supplement with every meal until you start feeling better and then drop it to once a day or if you prefer, keep taking it 3 times a day.

Going Forward

Maintaining gut health is so important for an overall healthy body and mind.  More and more studies are revealing the connection between good health and the health of our microbiome (gut bacteria).  From autoimmune diseases to mood disorders like depression, anxiety and other more severe mood disorders like schizophrenia are all linked to the health of our gut.  It’s paramount to continue eating whole foods while keeping sugar and processed foods out of our diet or to an absolute minimum.  Leaky gut is not well diagnosed so keeping on top of your health by keeping a journal can help you understand your body and how it reacts to trigger foods.  Doing this can help you fend off possible worse problems down the road.

In Conclusion

If you need more help or would like a structured program to get you on your way to better gut health, look into these quality programs.  These programs can give you a more in-depth look into the health of your gut and offer easy to follow recommendations so you can enjoy a lifetime of good gut health!

How To Heal Your Gut After Antibiotics, And Get Back To Life!

cropped-Gut-Health-promo-ad-04.jpgHaving an infection like strep throat, sinusitis, pneumonia, etc really sets you back for a few days while you recover and get your strength back.  The last thing you need is to deal with the resulting stomach issues that occur after taking antibiotics. It’s like a round two of recovery! In this article, I will show you how to heal your gut after antibiotics and get back to life again.

So, why is gut bacteria important?

Our digestive system is comprised of billions of diverse bacteria, good and bad. In order for your digestive system and your whole body to work efficiently, it is imperative that the balance of bacteria is maintained.  Unfortunately, medicine, chemicals, stress, eating poorly lead to an imbalance in the ratio of good to bad bacteria.  The resulting issues that stem due to the imbalance of gut bacteria (microbiome) can lead to a host of health challenges including, but not limited to:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Leaky gut
  • weak immunity, you just got over taking antibiotics for an illness and getting a rebound illness is very likely!
  • insomnia
  • heart issues and much more!

The double whammy to get your gut bacteria balanced again!

Dr. Frank Lipman has a 4 step protocol to heal your gut.  His approach is a 4 step process, but for the purposes of jump-starting your healing after antibiotics, the most important steps are Replace and Repair.

  1. Replace.  It’s necessary to replace what antibiotics destroyed.  Remember, antibiotics are not selective in the bacteria they destroy.  Both good and bad bacteria are targets.  Getting the ratio back to normal will take at least 30 days from the last day you took antibiotics.  Some experts healthy-gutadvise taking them for at least 6 months after a bout of antibiotics.  You want to replace acid and enzymes.  Hydrochloric acid can help readjust the gut to function better after antibiotics.  Take as directed.  Digestive Enzymes are necessary to assist in breaking food down into amino acids, fatty acids and simple sugars in order to utilize your food for energy.  Probiotics  are necessary to replace the good bacteria that was destroyed by the antibiotics.
  2. Repair. L-Glutamine helps to strengthen the lining of the gut, aiding in the absorption of nutrients. Quality Fish Oil  is important to aid in the anti-inflammatory condition that the gut might be in due to the imbalance of bacteria.

Eat your way to balanced bacteria!

If supplements don’t cut it for you and you want to balance your bacteria levels with food only include these foods every day.  You will have to be diligent about it and eat these foods at least twice a day.

  • Mint – Is great for soothing the digestive tract.
  • Zinc – Is needed to form digestive enzymes and regulate hormones.
  • Prebiotics – in fermented foods. Prebiotics feed healthy bacteria to thrive. Fermented foods include kefir, kimchi, and sauerkraut. High-quality bioavailable yogurt is good too.
  • Green foods and seaweed – kale, spinach, broccoli, wheatgrass, parsley, chlorella, and spirulina. These are all great at keeping high stomach acid levels in order.

I hope you never have the need to take antibiotics, but remember its critical to replace and repair after a round of them.
